Erica Buddington is an educator with an initiative to teach her way. Using her unconventional methods, responsive strategies, and vast knowledge of pop culture, she has created engaging human learning experiences, like no other, in and out of academic spaces. By dismantling the single side of history told, she has made her way onto this list easily. I also am proud to say I went to Hampton University with this fellow Pirate and always loved hearing her gift of spoken word poetry way back when. Give her a visit at Ericabuddington.com and follow her work at @langstonleague or @ericabuddington on Instagram!

Deidra Fogarty is the founder of Black Girls Teach, which works to fill the gap in professional development that often leaves Black women educators without a safe space to learn, grow and navigate the intricate spaces of being a Black woman educator. She’s an inspiration to many, because along her journey there was never a support system, community or outlet for Black women in Education, besides her own educator friends. Due to this she created Black Girls Teach to create a community where other Black women working in Education could discuss topics, get advice, share best practices and connect with one another. I’ve gotten to connect with Deidra through our work as a part of Teachers For Good Trouble and it’s been all love ever since. You can catch up and join her mission by following her on Instagram @blackgirlsteach or visiting blackgirlsteach.com/

Destiny Shantell Woodbury is the CEO + Founder of The Anchor School. The Anchor School was created to cultivate anchors in our communities that build a more just and equitable future, by preparing all students for success in and beyond the university. She is building a school model based on excellent instruction, community partnerships, and holistic student development to become an anchor for the community. Destiny and Kim completed a Leadership program together back in the day, and I got to connect with her more recently through Kim, and as a fellow Rhode Islander I tell you this, she will stop at nothing to make her dreams a reality. You can check her out today @destinytrack42 on Instagram or learn more about the school at https://www.theanchorschoolhtx.org/

She is connecting school leaders directly with professional development providers, so they can book the teacher training services they need. I met Jen almost 2 years ago now, and we’ve grown our businesses and supported each other the whole way through. She’s a fierce advocate for Social Justice and a great thought partner I’m incredibly grateful to call a friend.
